Savoury or deliciously sweet pies can take many shapes and forms – Mom’s apple pie is now a cornerstone of American popular culture, and just think of the blackbird filled pie taking centre stage in the traditional English nursery rhyme. From Tarte Tatin, to chicken and leek or that staple of the traditional English pub – steak and kidney the varieties are endless. But do pies still have a place on the modern British table? We think they do and clearly so do our customers, as this course is often requested.
Whether you use filo pastry sheets, short crust or puff pastry there are so many options. On this course we’ll explore the best combinations and you’ll discover lots of quick short cuts to making great savoury and sweet pies for all occasions – great for picnics and super for suppers it’s time to revive this great versatile staple!
Our seasonal recipe collection could include Lemon Meringue Pie, Tuscan beans and tomato Pie, Steak and mushroom Pie and finishing with Tarte Tatin with homemade puff pastry.
