learn to cook in the Lake District
There’s something terribly British about home baking, so it came as no surprise that when culinary queen Jane Asher announced her Home Baker of the Year 2008 contest, the great British public rose to the challenge with gusto. The fabulous standard of entries made choosing a winner a tough (but tasty!) proposition.
The panel of celebrity judges – including Jane Asher herself, our very own Lucy Nicholson, and celebrity chef Andrew Nutter – sampled a veritable cornucopia of cookery creations in their search for the tastiest, most interesting home baked recipe of 2008. Competition was fierce, but the team of foodie experts was eventually able to choose a winner in the shape of Gary Belcher, whose Apple and Blueberry Crumble Cake won him a fabulous new £25,000 Poggenpohl kitchen with Miele appliances.
But the delicious prizes didn’t stop there, as Wendy Mann of Dunstable in Bedfordshire scooped the runner-up prize with her mouthwatering Tropical Zingy Chelsea Buns. And her prize couldn’t be sweeter – a weekend cookery course here at LucyCooks, and a stay at the four-star Lakeside Hotel!
