At LucyCooks – the Lake District cookery school – hens and stags can enjoy an alternative action-packed day or engaging evening event, a host of themed food days can be created to suit the preferences of your party, please see below for some ideas that might take your fancy:
3D – Demo, Do and Dine
This is suitable for 12 – 20 people. The session starts at approx 4pm (although we can be flexible with this) and you get the opportunity for some hands on practical cookery. Usually the session is based on a 3 course menu and depending on your chosen menu you would make either 1 or 2 of the dishes. The final dish would be a demonstration by our chefs. You then get to sit in our lovely aga room and dine on the three courses.
Champagne and Cup Cake Decorating
This is suitable for 6 – 12 people.This is an afternoon of indulgence – you will get the opportunity to make treats such as chocolate truffles indulge your artistic side by decorating your own cupcakes all washed down with a chilled glass of Champagne
Butchery Afternoon
Suitable for 8 – 24 people. An ideal choice for a group of men or women wishing to get under the skin of simple butchery skills – ready for the barbeque and beyond!
This afternoon will be spent in our fantastic fully equipped kitchen, you will receive demonstrations from a Butcher (approximately 30mins) on the different cuts of meat, where they are and how to use them. Dishes that may be created could include, Scored Pork Belly with rack of ribs , A deliciously tasty dish of ‘pulled’ belly pork with crisp crackling and the added bonus of ‘spare’ ribs being the result of boning and trimming.
Chicken - can you bone, joint and skin a chicken without turning it into chicken nuggets? You will be guided through the process of jointing, removing the bones as appropriate and then marinating ready to barbeque!
During your time with us, you’ll be ‘fed’ lots of hints and tips, enjoy a beer from the local brewery and go home with plenty of barbeque goodies.
Demo and Dine
Suitable for 8 –18 people. This is an evening dining experience which involves no practical cookery, but you can select a menu to suit and you get the opportunity to watch a three course menu be demonstrated for you by one of our expert chefs. The evening starts at approx 6pm with a cocktail and you then have the aga room to your selves for your own private dining experience!
Vintage Afternoon Tea and Temptations
Suitable for 8 – 12 people. This course is your opportunity to not only stop off to enjoy exquisite tea blends, scones and cakes, but also enjoy the company of fellow afternoon tea lovers and a demonstration of scone, cake and biscuit making. Our resident baker will explain every stage of the baking process and you can make use of our large plasma screen to view exactly how it is done. The next delight is that of tucking in to all of the items that have been prepared, to the accompaniment of tea and coffee all served on beautiful vintage crockery, with the added satisfaction of knowing that you can now re-create the recipes at home. This divine afternoon tea interlude starts at 2pm and runs till 5.00pm but times can be altered to suit your hen party plans.
Canapés and Bubbles
Suitable for 8- 18 people. A delightful afternoon spent in our beautiful Aga room situated directly next to the river Kent. You will be greeted with a glass of fizz and spend your afternoon receiving demonstrations of some classic and modern ideas for canapés. Not only will you receive useful hints and tips from our in house chef but also get to sample all of his culinary delights. This is a perfect way to spend a relaxing and informative afternoon with friends and family.
